Bored to Death in Brooklyn
On Sunday’s episode of Bored to Death, Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman) and Ray (Zach Galifianakis) break into the Park Slope apartment of the lesbians who Ray has been giving his sperm to (if you don’t watch this show, this must sound very odd).
Inside the apartment, Jonathan and Ray discover that the lesbians have been lying about using the sperm for themselves, as they’re selling it all over Brooklyn, as seen in this screen-capture:

Of course, living in Brooklyn (Ditmas Park, to be specific), I had to find out if these addresses were real (with more than a little bit of help from Google Maps) and who the people who “lived” there were:
552 McKibben St.
-That specific apartment number doesn’t come up, but McKibben is located in Williamsburg, by the Montrose L train stop.
259 Greenly Ave.
-There is no Greenly Ave. in Brooklyn, only Greene Ave. in Clinton Hill. I should have known this before looking, considering the zip code is “111222.”
721 Norman Ave.
-Norman Ave. exists, but that address doesn’t (unless you’re referring to the 721 Norman Ave. in Norfolk, Virginia). Samantha Bryant appeared in one episode of The Singing Detective, a show whose main character is named Philip E. Marlow.
23-10 Broadway
-There’s a 10 Broadway right by the Williamsburg Bridge, but the zip given doesn’t much up with the real zip code. Interestingly, one of the women who “lives” at this address is named Janet Shaw, and the final role of the actress with the same name was in the television show, City Detective. Very clever, Mr. Ames.
51 Rivington St.
-Actually located in Manhattan, right by Delancey Street. The only Julia Pasternak I could find is an New York City artist who works mainly with tile and mosaics.
25 Minetta Lane
-Again in Manhattan (near the IFC Center in the Village), and it’s a co-op building. As for the “residents” here, they’re 1982’s Miss Bikini World (Carrie Leigh) and the First Assistant Editor of Bored to Death (Agnes Grandits).
9811 Atlantic Ave.
-Specific address doesn’t exist, but Laura Ballinger is an Art Director for Bored.
3373 Gates Ave.
-The first bit of love for Queens, near the Forest Avenue M stop. Erin Stamos might be related to John, but I know she’s a costume coordinator for Bored, while Erica Evans is the name of Elizabeth Mitchell’s character on V.
5222 Flatbush Ave.
-Near the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower (which Jonathean and Ray both correctly point out does look like a penis), and Jennifer Rogien’s an assistant costume designer for Bored.
4661 Bushwick
-Considering it only says “Bushwick,” I’m guessing this location isn’t real—and it’s not. But Ronny Merdinger (associate producer of Flight of the Conchords) and Lior Vardi (production secretary of Flight) are.
6355 Bushwick Ave.
-Zilch.
2 Grove St.
-There’s a 79-2 Grove St. in Brooklyn, but the only specific 2 Grove is the one in the West Village, which is another apartment building. Melissa Dale is an “Ambient/Indie/Other” musician from Fairbanks, Alaska, according to her MySpace page.
435 Motrose
-I’ll assume this is a typo and it’s meant to say “435 Montrose,” but even that doesn’t lead to any building or store. These guys are good at covering their trail…As for Lindsey Ryan, that could refer to a 14-year-old Michigan girl who went missing and then was found (Snopes covered it), or to Lindsey Ryan Design.
309 Jefferson St.
-Real, and according to BedBugRegistry.com: “Had bedbugs on the comforter and underneath the box spring of the bed. Only one room had them, other units in the building have said they had them.” Tammy Carrasco could either be a dancer or someone on Twitter who’s last tweet said, “Why is Guitar hero so addicting?! I love that freaking game! lol” Juliana Mayor works at Kingdom Tattoos in Bushwick, and was profiled in Time Out New York.
29 Nostrand Ave.
-Appears to be an apartment complex near the Flushing Ave. G stop. Elisabeth McGuirk is (was?) a student at Boston University, and she possess an awesome last name.
195 Morgan Ave.
-That’s the address of 3rd Ward, a “member-based design center for creative professionals with two locations in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We are committed to providing resources, opportunities and a dynamic-creative network to our members and the community at large,” according to their website. Molly Kohl is a puppeteer with Brooklyn’s Drama of Works, who “hope to bring people together through (puppetry) art, performance, and education.”
248 8th St.
-Located close to me in Ditmas Park, it appears to be housing and apartment complexes.
That’s it for addresses that can be seen. Here are the “homeless” people on the list:
-Puloma Basu is the Location Coordinator for Bored to Death (clever that this is the first location that can’t be, well, located)
-Liz Kugle is the Assistant Assistant Production Coordinator for Bored
-Tawni Fritz-McAlpine is the Production Accountant
-Carmen Rodriguez is “a Chilean-Canadian author, poet, educator, political social activist, and a founding member of Aquelarre Magazine,” according to Wikipedia.
-Rebecca Bonardi is Bored’s Office Production Assistant.
